Catalytic converters have been around for petrol engines since the 1950s, but were only widely used after the removal of lead from fuels in the 1980s.
Diesel particulate filters were first fitted by PSA Peugeot Citroen in the early 2000s, in preparation for the Euro 5 emissions regulations. In conjunction with a liquid known as PAT fluid, this device reduces particulate & NOx emissions using a process known as selective catalytic reduction. Later, most other OE manufacturers adopted the technology, using a liquid known as AdBlue for the SCR process.
Gasoline particulate filters/Otto particle filters are essentially the same thing, used in petrol cars and based on DPF technology, though work in a different way. At Motorstore Glengormley, we offer a range of European type approved catalytic converters, DPFs, GPF/OPFs as well as associated fitting components, fluids and sensors.
If we don’t have the cat or DPF parts you require available from stock, we will endeavour to source them the same day from our network of trusted local suppliers. Contact the team in Newtownabbey today for prices and information.
